Walker, also known
as Bubba, is my buddy. He accompanies me on all my Iditarod school talks. Walker
allows multitudes of children to climb all over him at these schools while he
patiently looks at me with the "Can we go home yet?" look.
Both
of Walker's majors came at Specialties under breeder judges, and in 2002 at the
Nationals, I had a feeling of DeJaVu in the Best of Breed ring as Walker made
it down to the last 20, just as his mother did, out of an entry of 173. It is
a wonderful feeling to know that one has bred a dog with such versatile talents.
In
his younger years, Walker ran wheel on Kep's team. We would laugh that he has
a split personality as he is Mr. Calm and Collected when he does just about anything
until you put a harness on him and hook him to the sled. He then turns into Mr.
Wild Man. Needless to say, he ran very well on the team. He is retired now and
enjoys his time laying around the family room.
Walker was bred to Lodgepole's
Lonesome Dove (Ch Lodgepole's Rough Ryder, CGC x Lodgepole's Snickerdoodle)and
produced multi BISS Ch Lodgepole's Broken Arrow. He was
also bred to BISS Ch. Charlyn's Joyous Occasion, SD, from California, and produced
Ch. Charlyn's Cosmic Occasion and Ch. Charlyn's Moonlight Occasion. Walker's Grandaughter,
Cali (Charlyn's California Girl) now lives with
us.
